Job summary

The Salvation Army in Rome, NY seeks a part-time Building Maintenance/Custodian to help keep the corps building and grounds safe, clean, and welcoming. Responsibilities include daily cleaning, basic repairs, and supporting volunteers as needed.

You will perform routine maintenance on the building and vehicles, assist with events, and ensure compliance with OSHA requirements and safety procedures. Training will be provided, and a commitment to the mission is valued.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED desired but not required.
Experience with cleaning materials and methods desired.
Ability to work independently with some supervision and support.
Good communication and basic math skills.
Experience with cleaning equipment and basic repairs is a plus.
Willingness to attend training sessions.

Responsibilities

Monitor cleaning, maintenance, and repairs; report needs to Corps Officer.
Perform routine repairs and general building maintenance for the Corps and Quarters.
Maintain Corps vehicles' preventive maintenance and inspections.
Keep exterior grounds tidy and snow removal.
Assist volunteers and drive corps vehicles as needed.
Prepare rooms for meetings and events.
Maintain floors and SDS sheets per OSHA.
Label containers per OSHA and maintain cleanliness.
Coordinate with vendors and notify safety concerns.
Adhere to safety protocols and chemical usage.
