Job summary

The Salvation Army in Mattoon, IL is seeking a part-time custodian/groundskeeper to maintain facilities and assist with custodial duties under the Corps Officer.

This role requires lifting up to 100 pounds, driving license, and the ability to perform cleaning tasks, yard work, minor repairs, and room preparation for programs, while ensuring a courteous, supportive environment for clients and staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent with related work experience.
• Ability to comprehend and follow cleaning instructions and safety data sheets.
• Basic communication skills to interact with staff and visitors.
• Must have a valid driver's license and pass MVR check.

Responsibilities

• Perform housekeeping duties: dusting, window washing, restroom cleaning, trash, vacuuming, and floor care.
• Assist with preventive maintenance such as furnace filter changes and minor repairs.
• Maintain Corps grounds: yard work, trash removal, snow removal, lawn mowing and outside repairs.
• Prepare rooms for Corps Programs and events; move furniture and deliver supplies.
• Maintain custodial supplies inventory and ensure clean janitorial spaces.
• Assist with vehicle maintenance and participate in fundraising as directed.
• Maintain confidentiality and foster a respectful work environment.
