Northwestern Medicine seeks a Blood Gas Technician to perform exacting lab measurements on blood samples and support patient care through accurate testing. The role involves calibrations, maintaining equipment, identifying issues, and communicating with physicians and nurses to ensure optimal outcomes.

Requirements include a health-related science degree or coursework and laboratory experience. This is a part-time, on-site position with rotating shifts within the Northwestern Medicine system.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or two years of college training in a health related science.
• Laboratory experience.

Responsabilités

• Perform exacting laboratory measurements on whole blood supernatants and other fluids.
• Perform preventative maintenance, calibrations and repairs on various lab equipment.
• Identify, correct and document problems that may affect test performance or reporting.
• Acquire knowledge of Respiratory Therapy modalities and cardiopulmonary physiology for interpreting data with patient condition.
• Communicate with physicians, nurses, therapists and other clinical personnel to achieve optimal patient care.
