Job summary

The Pennsylvania State University’s Muscle Function and Locomotion Group in the Biomechanics Laboratory is seeking a part-time laboratory assistant to support research projects and routine lab maintenance. Responsibilities include animal monitoring, biomechanical movement assessments, and metabolic measurements; may assist with electronics and software development if experienced.

Requires completion of institutional training (IACUC, EHS) prior to working on protocols.

Qualifications

• No prior animal or human research experience required.
• Comfortable interacting with animals in a research setting.
• Will complete required institutional training (IACUC, EHS, etc.) prior to working on protocols.

Responsibilities

• Assist with animal monitoring and experimental procedures (e.g., biomechanical movement assessments, metabolic measurements).
• Order supplies and perform routine laboratory maintenance.
• Support human-based research projects as needed.
• Contribute to electronics design and manufacture of research equipment and software, if applicable.
