Job summary

Northeastern University seeks part-time instructors to teach graduate courses in bioinformatics, biotech, and data science for the Bioinformatics Professional Science Master’s Program. Courses include biology with programming components and bioinformatics methods.

Compensation is per credit rate. In-person or online delivery is supported; applicants should hold a PhD and have experience in bioinformatics or related fields, with teaching or industry experience preferred.

Qualifications

• PhD in bioinformatics, biology, or a closely related field.
• Experience applying computational methods to biological problems.
• Teaching experience or 3+ years in course-relevant industry or academic work.
• Proven platform skills and openness to coaching from faculty lead.
• Prior experience in a diverse higher education institution preferred.
• Knowledge of Python and/or R recommended.

Responsibilities

• Review and learn key teaching points within instructor guides.
• Prepare lectures based on course materials provided to ensure high-quality teaching.
• Facilitate in-person or online class discussions with respectful, rich debates.
• Provide timely review and grading of assignments with coaching and feedback to students.
• Engage with students to monitor performance and provide support.
• Contribute to curriculum development efforts and adhere to Northeastern policies.
