Job summary

Intercity Transit’s Walk N Roll program seeks a part-time Bike Mechanic & Education Assistant to maintain and inspect program bikes, teach youth basic maintenance, and supervise volunteers. You will help transport and organize bikes and materials, support outreach, and assist with program activities.

The role emphasizes engaging with youth, promoting safe cycling, and ensuring bikes are ride-ready. Schedule includes 30 hours/week with some evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Bicycle mechanic experience and ability to inspect and repair bikes.
• Experience educating youth in bike maintenance and safety.
• High personal accountability for quality, safety, and impact of work.
• Experience working with youth and diverse communities.
• Ability to create an inclusive, welcoming environment for all backgrounds.
• Strong bicycle safety and handling skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to youth on basic bike maintenance and safe cycling.
• Guide volunteers and participants in repairing and refurbishing bicycles.
• Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and safety inspections for program bikes.
• Move, transport, and organize bicycles, equipment, and materials.
• Drive a van and trailer to transport youth, bikes, and supplies.
• Support outreach, data collection, and program reporting.
