Intercity Transit’s Walk N Roll program seeks a part-time Bike Mechanic & Education Assistant to maintain and inspect program bikes, teach youth basic maintenance, and supervise volunteers. You will help transport and organize bikes and materials, support outreach, and assist with program activities.
The role emphasizes engaging with youth, promoting safe cycling, and ensuring bikes are ride-ready. Schedule includes 30 hours/week with some evenings and weekends.

In this hands-on role, you’ll help keep Walk N Roll’s bicycles safe, reliable, and ready to ride while supporting bicycle education programs for middle and high school students. You’ll use your bicycle mechanic skills to perform maintenance, repairs, and safety inspections; teach youth basic bike maintenance, repair, and safe cycling practices; and guide volunteers and program participants as they repair and refurbish bicycles.
You’ll also support the day-to-day needs of Walk N Roll programs by helping transport and organize bicycles, equipment, and program materials and assisting with outreach and program activities. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with bikes, engaging with youth and the community, and using their skills to support safe and accessible bicycling.
This position is partially supported by funding from Washington’s Climate Commitment Act. The CCA supports Washington’s climate action efforts by putting cap-and-invest dollars into work reducing climate pollution, creating jobs, and improving public health. This is a part-time, 30-hour-per-week position. The anticipated work schedule is Monday through Friday and will include frequent evening and weekend hours to support Walk N Roll programs and activities.
This position is grant-funded through June 30, 2027, with the potential for continuation contingent upon future grant funding.
Experience in bicycle mechanics, riding safety, education, youth development, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, driving, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Semi–Physical Work: Exerting up to 30 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects. Requires walking up to 2 (two) miles and biking of 5-20 miles on occasion.
