Job summary

Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital is seeking a Behavioral Health Therapist to assess patients and collaborate with care teams to address mental health needs. The role involves two 8-hour shifts per week, with an emphasis on direct and indirect care within a multidisciplinary setting.

Required is a Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology or Social Work, and BLS certification within 90 days. Preferred credentials include SBIRT, EMDR, CBT or DBT experience.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in counseling, psychology or social work is required.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Experience in acute psychiatric, hospital or inpatient psych is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assesses social, psychological, cultural, environmental and financial needs for each patient.
• Collaborates with patients, families, healthcare teams and community agencies to develop plans.
• Evaluates plan effectiveness and initiates changes as needed.
• Provides direct mental health care and support within the behavioral health team.
