Job summary

Tellurian in Madison, WI is seeking a Human Service Specialist to provide care for residents with mental health disorders in a residential setting on a part-time schedule, including weekends.

You will follow crisis care plans, monitor well-being, assist with daily living, supervise medications, and document observations for clinical and billing purposes.

The role requires compassion, basic computer skills, and collaboration with healthcare professionals to support recovery and safety.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services field is preferred.
• Related work experience is preferred.
• Basic computer skills are required.
• Consideration will be given to Substance Abuse Counselor in Training Certification and/or Peer Specialist Certification.
• Must be compassionate and have the desire to work with individuals in crisis.

Responsibilities

• Monitor residents' physical and emotional well-being and report unusual conditions to management staff.
• Provide support and personal care to mentally ill individuals in crisis.
• Observe and influence residents' behavior, communicating and interacting to ameliorate crisis symptoms.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, or rehabilitation therapists to assure resident safety.
• Develop and teach strategies to promote coping, recovery principles, wellness and independence.
• Supervise oral medications and maintain records per procedures.
• Interview new residents to assess mental health status and history.
• Lead prescribed individual or group therapy sessions as part of therapeutic procedures.
• Record measures of mental health symptoms and progress for clinical and billing purposes.
• Encourage residents to participate in social, recreational, and other therapeutic activities.
