Job summary

Olive-Harvey College is seeking an experienced Assistant Coach for the baseball program, focusing on Academics-First student success. The part-time position reports to the athletics director and involves mentoring players, teaching sport skills, and supporting game day operations.

The role requires a minimum two years of coaching or playing, a degree or credits, and willingness to work evenings, weekends, and travel as needed. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university or 60+ college credits.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred in Physical Education or related field.
• Minimum of two years coaching and/or collegiate playing experience.
• Familiarity with NJCAA rules is a plus.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the sport, including rules, strategies, and techniques.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to teach and mentor student athletes from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Head Coach in instruction, development, and evaluation of student athletes.
• Demonstrates sport-specific skills during practices and training sessions.
• Evaluates athletes’ performance and provides constructive feedback.
• Assists with recruitment of student athletes.
• Advises students academically and personally to support their goals.
• Assists with equipment, travel arrangements, and apparel needs following purchasing guidelines.
• Coaches during league, conference and tournament play.
• Adheres to customer service standards.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
