Job summary

Mahtomedi Public Schools is seeking an AVID Elective Teacher (.4 FTE) for a long term substitute. The AVID elective centers on WICOR to accelerate student learning and postsecondary readiness.

The ideal candidate holds Minnesota secondary licensure, understands AVID standards or will engage in AVID PD, and uses data-informed practices to support student achievement with a culturally responsive approach.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Minnesota secondary teaching license.
• Knowledge of AVID curriculum standards or willingness to engage in AVID professional development.
• Experience with research-based instructional practices to support student learning.
• Data-informed instruction and leadership in AVID.
• Culturally responsive practitioner committed to eliminating opportunity disparities.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with AVID stakeholders (students, families, coordinators, administrators).
• Member of building-based AVID Site team.
• Establish and maintain high expectations for AVID students' achievement.
• Collect and analyze AVID student data and monitor progress.
• Advocate for AVID students' access to rigorous courses.
• Teach and promote WICOR instructional strategies across content areas.
• Collaborate with tutors to implement the tutorial process.
• Facilitate community service opportunities for AVID students.
• Other duties as assigned.
