Job summary

The City of Amarillo is seeking a part-time Athletics Grounds Crew member to maintain athletic complexes. You will prep fields, perform landscape tasks, and clean facilities. Hours vary with a need to work weekends and late nights; reliable transportation is required.

Responsibilities include field prep, mowing, weeding, and general maintenance. Candidates must be 18+, able to lift up to 50 pounds, and work in all weather. Equal opportunity employer; accommodations available.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic safety and emergency procedures.
• Knowledge of small mowing and landscape equipment.
• Effective verbal and written communication.
• Professional interaction with the public.
• Ability to work independently and make sound judgments.
• Ability to work outside in all types of weather.
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Field & Court Preparation: Dragging fields, chalking, raking, striping fields, moving equipment, checking nets and athletics equipment, assembling equipment.
• Landscape Maintenance: Mowing, weed eating, laying sod, digging, cleaning out flower beds, using blowers, shoveling.
• Cleaning: Picking up trash, cleaning restrooms, power washing.
• Staff Meetings and Training: Attend mandatory staff meetings and trainings.
• Communication: Communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors and user groups.
• Emergency Preparedness: Respond appropriately in emergency situations, ensuring safety of participants.
• Travel: May travel to different field locations within the city.
