Job summary

TrulyHired is seeking an Educational Interpreter of the Deaf for a part-time assignment in Ohio to provide ASL interpreting for a preschool student from 8:00-11:30, Tuesday through Friday. The role focuses on facilitating communication in inclusive, mainstream, and self-contained settings and promoting positive relations among Deaf/Hard of Hearing students, peers, and staff.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to lift equipment, supplies and/or children weighing at least forty (40) pounds
• Physical ability to perform all essential functions of the job

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge of the Ohio Guidelines for Educational Interpreters
• Follow classroom schedule and interpret for students as mandated by the student's IEP
• Interpret all class activities to include lectures, discussions, films/videos, assemblies, and related assignments
• Collaborate as a member of the educational team obtaining lesson plans and providing in-service for new staff members
• Maintain confidentiality as required by District policy and RID Code of Conduct
• Pursue self-improvement and professional development opportunities in signing and interpreting
• Attend all in-service/professional development programming and staff meetings as required
