Job summary

The Stepping Stones Group in Castro Valley, CA is seeking a qualified American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter for our part-time school-based team. You will support Deaf or Hard of Hearing students by providing accurate sign language interpretation during classroom instruction and school activities.

Ideal candidates have ASL and English fluency, CA RID or EIPA 4.0+, and experience in education. You will collaborate with teachers and staff, maintain confidentiality, and participate in ongoing

Qualifications

• Fluent in ASL and English.
• CA RID or EIPA 4.0+ required.
• Experience in educational settings preferred.
• Experience with children and adolescents preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide ASL interpretation for students during instruction and activities.
• Facilitate communication among students, teachers, staff, peers, and families.
• Interpret lectures, discussions, assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular activities.
• Support access to academic content and promote independence and self-advocacy.
• Collaborate with teachers and related service providers.
• Maintain records and documentation as required.
• Adhere to ethics, confidentiality, and district policies.
• Participate in team meetings and professional development.
