The Stepping Stones Group in Virginia is seeking a qualified American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter to join our full-time, school-based team in Ruther Glen, VA. This role supports Deaf or Hard of Hearing students by facilitating effective communication and equal access to educational services.

You will interpret in classrooms and during school activities, collaborate with teachers and staff, maintain confidentiality, and participate in professional development to promote student success.

Qualificações

• Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and English.
• Certified Level II or III VQAS preferred.
• Previous interpreting experience in educational settings preferred.

As an ASL Interpreter, you will work closely with students, teachers, administrators, and support staff to ensure meaningful participation in classroom instruction, school activities, and educational programs. Qualifications

• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English
• Level II or Level III VQAS
• Previous experience interpreting in educational settings preferred
• Experience working with children and adolescents preferred
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional standards

Key Responsibilities

• Provide sign language interpretation for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing during classroom instruction and school activities
• Facilitate communication between students, teachers, staff, peers, and families as appropriate
• Interpret lectures, discussions, assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular activities
• Support students' access to academic content while promoting independence and self-advocacy
• Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers
• Maintain accurate records and documentation as required
• Adhere to professional ethics, confidentiality standards, and district policies
• Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities as needed
