Job summary

Coastal Security Services, Inc. is hiring a part-time Armed School Security Officer to safeguard K-12 campuses in the Sumter, SC area. You will maintain a secure environment for students, staff, and visitors while coordinating with school officials and local law enforcement.

The role requires vigilance, professionalism, and the ability to perform foot patrols, monitor access points, and respond to incidents during school hours. Evening events may occur on some campuses.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Prior law enforcement, military, or armed security experience.
• Ability to obtain SC SLED Armed Security Officer Registration prior to placement.
• Proficiency with a handgun.
• Clean criminal background; pass SLED background check and screenings.

Responsibilities

• Provide armed security coverage at assigned K-12 campus(es)
• Monitor access points and control entry to school buildings and grounds
• Conduct foot patrols of buildings, parking areas, and perimeters
• Respond to calls as needed
• Coordinate with school administration, faculty, and local law enforcement
• Monitor CCTV and alarm systems as applicable
• Maintain accurate daily activity reports and incident documentation
• Serve as a visible deterrent and professional security presence
