Job summary

Coastal Security Services, Inc. is seeking Armed Security Officers to protect K-12 school campuses in Savannah, GA and Sumter, SC. The role focuses on maintaining a safe, calm learning environment on a Monday–Friday schedule during the school calendar.

Officers provide a visible armed presence, screen visitors, patrol campuses, and coordinate with administrators and local law enforcement. Starting pay is site-based and overtime is 1.5x after 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Ability to obtain the armed license for the state you will work in (GA Savannah posts or SC SLED Armed Security Officer Registration).
• Proficiency with a handgun is required.
• Must pass state and federal background checks and drug screening.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.

Responsibilities

• Provide a visible, professional armed presence on assigned campus.
• Control building and grounds access, screen visitors, and monitor CCTV and alarm systems.
• Conduct foot and vehicle patrols of buildings, perimeters, and parking areas.
• Coordinate with school administration, faculty, and local law enforcement.
• Support emergency drills and school safety protocols.
• Write accurate daily activity and incident reports in the mobile system.

About CSSI

Coastal Security Services, Inc. (CSSI) has provided professional security across South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida since 2006. We staff hospitals, K-12 schools, gated residential communities, industrial sites, and major events. Every officer trains through the CSSI Training Academy, and our leadership team is in the field, not behind a desk.

About the Role

We are hiring Armed Security Officers for K-12 school campuses in the Savannah, GA area and Sumter, SC. You keep a safe, calm learning environment for students, faculty, and visitors on a weekday, school-calendar schedule.

This is a standing posting. We hire continuously across our sites in this area, not for one opening. Apply once. If you clear screening, you are placed as soon as a post fits your license, location, and availability. Cleared candidates who are not placed right away stay on file and hear from us first when the next post opens.

What You Will Do

• Provide a visible, professional armed presence on your assigned campus
• Control building and grounds access, screen visitors, and monitor CCTV and alarm systems
• Conduct foot and vehicle patrols of buildings, perimeters, and parking areas
• Coordinate with school administration, faculty, and local law enforcement
• Support emergency drills and school safety protocols
• Write accurate daily activity reports and incident reports in our mobile reporting system

Schedule

Monday through Friday during school hours, following the school calendar. Weekends and school holidays are typically off. Occasional after-hours campus events.

Pay

CSSI uses post-based pay: your hourly rate is set by the campus you are assigned to. Armed campus posts in these areas start at $21 per hour, with higher rates at select sites. Overtime is paid at 1.5x for all hours over 40 in a work week.

Requirements

• 21 years of age or older
• Ability to obtain the armed license for the state you will work in, completed through CSSI before placement: Georgia armed guard license for Savannah posts or SC SLED Armed Security Officer Registration for Sumter posts
• Proficiency with a handgun
• Must pass state and federal background checks, drug screening, and school district screening
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Composure under pressure and clear verbal and written communication
• Able to stand, walk, and patrol for a full shift

Preferred

• Prior law enforcement, military, or armed security experience
• School or campus security experience
• Crisis intervention or de-escalation training
• Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification
