Job summary

Syracuse University seeks a Part-time Instructor to teach one 3-credit Arabic V (ARB 301) in Fall 2026. The appointment begins on August 17, 2026, with classes starting August 24, 2026.

The position is based on campus and requires regular in-person presence to support students and colleagues. The Arabic V course focuses on advanced proficiency in reading, speaking, writing, and listening, with instruction conducted in Arabic.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree required; Ph.D. preferred; native or near-native fluency.
• Experience in university-level teaching preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and/or update a class syllabus.
• Order appropriate books and materials ahead of the class start date.
• Prepare lectures, projects or other student assignments.
• Maintain regularly scheduled office hours of two hours per week.
• Present instruction based on class competencies and performance levels.
• Meet all designated class periods and reschedule if needed.
• Work with the academic unit to maintain student learning outcomes.
• Submit mid-semester progress reports and final grades per University regulations.
• Grade student assignments and exams in a timely manner.
• Provide departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
• Complete all other course-related duties as outlined by department policies.
• Build a positive rapport with students and faculty.
