Job summary

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking an Aquatics Staff/Lifeguard at the Tom Taylor Family YMCA in Gig Harbor, WA. This part-time role up to 25 hours per week offers $18.00 to $18.50 per hour, with compensation based on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities include lifeguarding, swim instruction, enforcing pool safety, and delivering quality programs for members while maintaining a safe aquatic environment per YMCA policies.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16 years or older.
• Six months aquatics experience preferred.
• Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, First Aid and Oxygen certifications preferred.
• Pass background and reference checks per WA Fair Chance Act.

Responsibilities

• Ensure member safety by vigilant scanning of water and pool deck.
• Instruct swimming lessons for youth as needed.
• Perform rescue actions and administer first aid/CPR per YMCA policies.
• Prepare lesson plans with progression suitable for ages and abilities.
• Adhere to safety rules and YMCA emergency procedures.
• Attend required trainings and certifications.
• Foster positive relationships with members and staff.
