Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Hartford is seeking a part-time Lifeguard in Ellington, CT. You will help maintain a safe, clean aquatic environment and enforce pool rules while delivering YMCA values to members and participants.

Qualifications include being 16 or older and holding lifeguard and CPR certifications. You will be expected to stay alert, respond to emergencies, and attend required training and staff meetings as part of a supportive aquatics team.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Current YMCA or ARC Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certification (infant, child and adult), Oxygen Admin and First Aid certification.
• Maturity, responsibility, positive values and sincere interest in working with people.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety of every individual in and around the pool and facility.
• Enforce pool rules and related regulations (showers, food and conduct).
• Maintain premises in a clean and sanitary condition.
• Maintain records as required by the CT Health Department Sanitary Code.
• Learn and review all emergency procedures.
• Attend staff meetings and in-services as required.
• Report 15 minutes prior to scheduled hours in proper uniform and be prepared to substitute if needed.
• Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
