Job summary

Great Western Dining Service at our Western Texas College location is looking for a skilled Cook to prepare delicious meals. An excellent cook must be able to follow instructions, be deft in moving around the kitchen and adept at multitasking.

This part-time role runs Monday through Friday from 9am to 3pm. You will set up stations, prep ingredients, cook and portion meals, follow recipes, present dishes, keep the kitchen clean, store items properly, and follow HACCP and safety policies.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as cook
• Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
• Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment
• Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Very good communication skills

Responsibilities

• Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
• Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
• Prepare, portion, cook food items for various meal periods or special events
• Ability to follow basic recipes and production information
• Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
• Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
• Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
• Follow all company HACCP and safety policies
