Job summary

Great Western Dining Service at Western Texas College is seeking a skilled Cook to prepare delicious meals. The role requires following instructions, moving deftly in the kitchen, and multi-tasking to handle busy service periods.

This part-time position runs Mon–Fri 2 pm–8 pm. You will set up stations, prep ingredients, cook and present dishes, and ensure sanitation and HACCP compliance while working as part of a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as cook.
• Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods.
• Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment.
• Ability to follow all sanitation procedures.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Very good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
• Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
• Prepare, portion, cook food items for various meal periods or special events
• Ability to follow basic recipes and production information
• Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
• Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
• Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
• Follow all company HACCP and safety policies
