Job summary

YMCA of Greater New York is seeking a Part-Time Swim Team Coach at the Cross Island YMCA in Queens, NY. The role focuses on preparing athletes, running practices, and coordinating meets while maintaining safety and program quality.

Responsibilities include teaching according to YMCA standards, tracking registrations, and collaborating with parents and staff. Flexible hours, including weekends, are required for team events and trainings.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.
• Minimum 2 years coaching experience with diverse groups.
• Current YMCA Lifeguard certification or achieve YLG within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Instruct participants according to YMCA aquatics program standards and set goals for team participants.
• Maintain class organization, schedule practices, and coordinate meets.
• Ensure equipment is ready and attend quarterly in-service training.
• Track registrations and manage team entries using Hy-Tek and SportsEngine.
• Promote programs and ensure safety policies are followed.
