Job summary

Montessori School of Rome is seeking a Part-Time Late Stay/After School Care Assistant to support Toddler and Primary students in the afternoon program. The role emphasizes a warm, engaging, and nurturing environment where children feel safe and encouraged to explore.

Typical schedule is Monday–Friday, 2:30 p.m.–5:30 p.m. Hours may vary based on school needs. Responsibilities include supervision, activities, safety, snack time, and daily care routines in a Montessori setting.

Qualifications

• Must love working with children ages 18 months to 6 years.
• Strong communication and teamwork are essential.
• Ability to create a nurturing, respectful and joyful environment.
• Commitment to children's safety, well-being and development.
• Willingness to assist with diapering and daily care for toddlers.
• Interest in Montessori philosophy and child-centered learning.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and engage Toddler and Primary students in a safe, nurturing after-school environment.
• Plan and lead age-appropriate activities: outdoor play, arts, crafts, games, stories and quiet activities.
• Build positive relationships with children and encourage independence, kindness and cooperation.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, welcoming late stay environment.
• Assist with snack time and ensure health, safety and sanitation practices.
• Support daily routines: bathroom assistance, transitions, and dismissal procedures.
• Communicate effectively with staff, administrators and families as needed.
• Ensure compliance with school policies and state licensing requirements.
