Job summary

Montessori Academy of Upland is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support the Primary Montessori program for ages 3–6. The role focuses on afternoon and closing coverage through 6:00 p.m. with options for part-time or full-time schedules.

The successful candidate will assist teachers, supervise students, maintain ratios, and help with transitions, meals, and daily routines in a nurturing Montessori environment. CPR/First Aid certification is preferred or must be obtained as required.

• Willing to assist wherever needed throughout the school.
• Comfortable in a Montessori environment and supporting Montessori principles.
• Able to supervise children actively and attentively.
• Must be able to work until 6:00 p.m. (for closing shifts).
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred or obtainable as required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children in classroom, playground, and after-school program.
• Assist teachers with classroom activities and daily routines.
• Maintain appropriate teacher-to-child ratios.
• Provide classroom coverage for staff breaks and lunches.
• Support children with transitions, toileting, meals, and other daily needs.
• Maintain a clean, organized Montessori environment.
• Prepare and organize classroom materials.
• Model respectful behavior and positive interactions.
• Assist with afternoon snack and closing procedures.
• Communicate professionally with children, parents, coworkers, and visitors.
• Follow California Community Care Licensing requirements.
