Job summary

The Educational Alliance Inc. is seeking part-time After School Support Specialists for the 14th Street Y program in New York, supporting K-5th grade students, including those with neurodivergent needs.

You will assist with daily activities, safety, and family updates, and collaborate with staff to create an inclusive after-school experience. Ideal candidates are pursuing Social Work or Special Education, possess patience, and enjoy working with diverse cultures in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Availability to attend all After-School days (Sept 14, 2026 – June 4, 2027).
• Pursuing education in Social Work, Special Education, or related fields; Bachelor’s degree a plus.
• Experience with neurodivergent or social/emotional/behavioral/mental health needs of children.
• Patience and willingness to learn about disabilities and supportive strategies.
• Willingness to learn about and participate in Jewish culture and traditions.
• Friendly, warm, active and enjoys childcare setting.
• Collaborative, flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with diverse cultural backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Attend all days of staff orientation before After School (weeknights).
• Attend After-School and monthly staff meetings during 2026–2027.
• Learn about assigned after-schoolers and support their plans for success.
• Assist campers during pool times with additional support.
• Communicate progress with Support Coordinator and Program Manager.
• Work harmoniously with Group Leaders to support after-schoolers.
• Adhere to safety standards and regulations.
• Maintain restorative conduct and inclusion practices.
