Job summary

Allegheny Intermediate Unit is seeking a Part Time After School Group Leader to supervise a group of students in after-school activities. The role focuses on creating a safe, engaging environment and supporting academic, social, and emotional development.

Responsibilities include planning activities, homework help, building relationships, communicating with parents, and assisting with events. Schedule is Monday through Friday, up to 25 hours per week, with an hourly rate of $15.45; FLSA:

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework preferred.
• Prior experience working with children in educational, recreational, or childcare settings preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage and motivate students.
• Ability to manage a group of children while fostering a positive atmosphere.

Responsibilities

• Supervision & Safety: Maintain a safe environment and address behavior calmly.
• Activity Planning: Lead activities including arts, sports, homework help and enrichment.
• Homework Assistance: Support students with homework and academic growth.
• Engagement & Interaction: Build positive relationships and foster inclusion.
• Communication: Update parents and staff on progress and incidents.
• Attendance & Record-Keeping: Take attendance and track participation.
• Classroom Management: Enforce rules and guide positive choices.
• Supply & Resource Management: Organize materials and assist with cleanup.
• Event Participation: Help plan and run events and field trips.
• Team Collaboration: Work with staff and volunteers to ensure program success.
