Job summary

City of Fontana is seeking staff for the After School Program. The role involves assisting in educational, enrichment and recreational activities for students, with a schedule not exceeding 28 hours per week (typically 11am–6pm, Monday–Friday, may include evenings, weekends and holidays).

Ideal candidates have at least six months of organized recreation, child care, or teaching experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and CPR/First Aid certifications within 60 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Minimum six months of organized recreation, child care, or teaching experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent; AA degree or 2 years of higher education or special proficiency testing.
• CPR and basic first aid certifications within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervising and organizing recreation activities.
• Work with students in reading, spelling, mathematics and other subjects, assist with computer skills.
• Distribute, monitor and maintain equipment and supplies.
• Lead group activities and supervise participants at park site or facility.
• Provide information and referrals to program participants and school officials.
• Operate a computer and related software.
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff and participants.
• Perform daily operations as needed by the employer.
