Job summary

New York Edge is seeking a part-time Teacher to provide after-school instruction at a Staten Island site. The role focuses on creating engaging lessons, assessing student progress, and guiding youth in academic topics within a school setting.

The ideal candidate holds NYS Teacher Certification, has at least 3 years of teaching youth, and can collaborate with families and school staff to support student learning in a dynamic, in-person program.

Qualifications

• NYS Teacher Certification.
• At least 3 years experience successfully teaching and instructing youth.
• Knowledge of curriculum writing and execution of lesson plans.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, families and school partners including school administration and staff.
• Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
• Analyzes problems and implements solutions in a fast-paced setting, paying strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Create and execute lesson plans, evaluate each participant’s progress via a comprehensive grading system and provide innovative instruction to the group.
• Present the content using language appropriate to the participants’ age group and as outlined in lesson plans.
• Provide participants with opportunities to practice and grow the skill sets they have obtained through educational and recreational activities
• Implement a system to ensure the successful delivery of material and a feedback system between staff and participants
• Other duties as assigned
