Lake Superior Academy in Sault Ste. Marie, MI, is hiring a part-time After School Child Care Staff for the after-school program, Monday–Thursday 3:00 P.M. – 5:30 P.M. and Fridays 11:00 A.M.

– 5:30 P.M. The role provides a safe, nurturing environment for K-5 students and collaborates with families and staff to ensure a high-quality experience. The position emphasizes supervision, activity planning, and supporting students' social, emotional, and physical well-being.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or college coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, Recreation, or related field preferred.
• Strong understanding of child development and positive behavior management techniques.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students in the before and after school program, ensuring safety and well-being.
• Plan and facilitate age-appropriate recreational, educational, and enrichment activities.
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for students.
• Monitor student behavior and reinforce positive behavior per guidelines.
• Assist students with homework and provide academic support as appropriate.
• Maintain attendance records and verify releases.
• Communicate with parents and guardians about participation and updates.
• Prepare, organize, and clean activity areas before and after program operations.
• Ensure program materials and supplies are maintained and used safely.
• Respond to illnesses, injuries, emergencies, and behavioral concerns per policies.
• Collaborate with school staff to support student success.
