Job summary

YMCA Beacons School Success programs engage youth as leaders and learners by transforming schools into active youth centers afterschool and in the summer, providing free high quality educational, recreational, and leadership development activities opportunities to kindergarten through 12th grade youth and their families at our 8 Beacons School Success Centers located in neighborhoods in Minneapolis, St.

Paul, and Richfield.

Qualifications

Experience and/or education in youth studies, child development, human relations, communication, or recreational programs.
Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and facilitate youth development programming.
Excellent interpersonal communications and mediation skills.
Willingness to work with people of diverse populations.
Demonstrated commitment to working with school age children in an enrichment setting.

Responsibilities

Plan, develop and implement enrichment curriculum and program activities with a group of young people.
Provide work direction to program staff and volunteers while on duty.
Evaluate the program on a continuous basis and recommend needed changes to the Beacons School Success Sr. Coordinator and/or Program Director.
Ensure that the center and classroom spaces are kept clean and organized.
Perform administrative activities to support the program, including collecting daily attendance.
Assist in the promotion of the program including recruiting young people to program, communication to families and school staff.
