Job summary

The City of Troy invites applications for a part-time Adaptive Recreation Assistant to lead and supervise adaptive programs in Troy, MI. You will work with the Adaptive Recreation Coordinator and staff to deliver inclusive activities such as Daytime Friendship Club and Adaptive bowling, scheduling events and ensuring safety.

Responsibilities include introducing new ideas, assisting participants with disabilities, maintaining public relations, and timely reporting of issues.

Qualifications

• High school degree or GED; at least 18 years old.
• Valid Michigan Driver License with a good driving record.
• May be asked to pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise adaptive recreation programs as directed by the Adaptive Recreation Coordinator and Adaptive Recreation Supervisor.
• Take initiative to introduce new ideas for programming and activities for our Adaptive Department.
• Assist and redirect adaptive participants who may have physical and/or cognitive disabilities.
• Advise Adaptive Recreation Coordinator of supplies needed for programs and special events.
• Maintain good public relations with staff and community.
• Advise program Coordinator and Supervisor of issues, complaints and discipline problems promptly - within 24 hours.
• Complete accident and/or incident reports as needed and submit to the Coordinator and Supervisor within 24 hours.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
