Job summary

Coast Community College District seeks an Adapted Kinesiology instructor for part‑time teaching assignments at Orange County campuses. The role focuses on adapted physical education courses, including aquatics, strength, balance, conditioning and aerobics.

The position requires a California CCC credential and a relevant Master’s degree with experience elevating inclusive education for diverse adult learners. Regular participation in classes and adherence to department outlines are expected.

Qualifications

  • Valid California Community College instructor credential, per Education Code 87355 (issued prior to July 1, 1990).
  • Master’s in physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercise or adaptive physical education.
  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the above and Master’s in any life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration or physical therapy.
  • Combination of education and experience at least equivalent to the above; submit Equivalency if used.
  • 15 semester units of upper division or graduate study in adapted physical education.
  • Evidence of sensitivity to, understanding of, and ability to manage the classroom and diverse student populations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction in adapted physical education classes including adapted aquatics, strength and balance, stretch, cardiovascular fitness, and aerobics.
  • Maintain current knowledge in subject matter.
  • Assess students' physical and perceptual motor needs, progress, expectations, goals to develop baseline information for placement and feedback.
  • Provide specialized instructional techniques through individual or group sessions.
  • Assess students' progress, expectations, goals, and measure impacts.
  • Develop or recommend specialized equipment, goals and objectives for improving students' motor skills.
  • Direct instructional assistants, volunteers and/or student aides to meet student needs.
  • Maintain professional conduct and ethics.
  • Apply state and federal guidelines related to teaching individuals with disabilities.
  • Fulfill part‑time faculty responsibilities, teach all scheduled classes, keep records, and submit grades on time.
  • Provide instruction in accordance with curriculum and course outlines.
  • Maintain current knowledge in subject matter areas.
  • Fulfill professional responsibilities of part‑time/temporary faculty.
  • Teach all scheduled classes and maintain accurate records.
  • Assignments may include day, evening, weekend, online and/or off‑campus classes.
