Job summary

The Greenery Center for Rehab and Nursing is seeking a compassionate part-time Activities Assistant to design and coordinate daily, weekly, and monthly resident events. You will engage residents, manage volunteers, and oversee logistics to keep activities on time and within budget.

Applicants should have a high school diploma, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and the ability to pass a background check. Prior experience in activities or nursing settings is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and certain certifications may be required.
• More education or experience with nursing, recreational activities, event planning, or related may be preferred.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Physical fitness, ability to walk, dance, stand, lift, or meet other physical demands.
• Adaptability and strong organization and time management skills.
• Excellent resource management, computer, record keeping, interpersonal, decision making, and verbal and written communication skills.
• Patience and compassion when dealing with others, especially those who are sick, injured, elderly, or from different backgrounds.
• Flexibility to work when needed.
• Willingness to adhere to and enforce all safety policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Planning and facilitating daily, weekly, and monthly events to encourage socialization, relaxation, and recreation.
• Implementing activities that accommodate those with special needs.
• Handling logistics to make events possible, including calls, advertising, inventory, budgets, training volunteers, and coordinating transportation.
• Observing participants to gauge enjoyment and obtain feedback.
• Keeping records of event planning resources and participant interest.
• Reporting medical concerns or observations.
• Ensuring events are well-provisioned, staff trained, on time, and within budget.
• Providing participants with instructions for the event.
• Adhering to and enforcing all safety procedures.
