Description
- Participate in planning and conducting individual, small, and large group activities.
- Assist in providing effective communication between employees at all levels, residents, their families, support personnel, government agencies, and the public to meet the needs and best interests of residents, the community, and the facility.
- Participate in community planning related to the interests of the facility and the needs of residents and families.
- Assist in developing the monthly activity calendar and maintaining attendance records.
- Assist the Quality Assurance and Assessment Committee in developing and implementing plans to address quality deficiencies as requested by the Activities Director.
- Participate in discharge planning, and develop and implement activity care plans and resident assessments.
- Assist in arranging transportation for residents, including outings, appointments, and discharges.
- Develop a monthly activity schedule that includes outings, group activities, and in-room activities for bed-bound or isolated residents.
- Encourage residents to participate in self-initiated activities such as hobbies, crafts, and reading, and provide necessary materials, including Braille or audio books as appropriate.
- Assist with assessment documentation and quarterly progress notes as assigned by the Activity Director.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and secure Activity Department.
Supervisory Requirements
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferably one year of experience in a long-term care facility.
Skills
- Ability to read and comprehend technical procedures, policy, and procedure manuals.
- Effective communication skills to present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to interpret instructions in various formats.
Physical Demands
Must be able to stand, walk frequently, sit occasionally, reach, push, pull, talk, hear, taste, smell, and lift up to 50 pounds. Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must have good vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
