Job summary

Barstow Community College seeks an adaptable accounting support specialist to perform a wide range of financial duties, including accounts payable/receivable, data entry, and maintaining district records. You will ensure transactions comply with district policies and state regulations, while supporting student billing and contract processing.

The role involves handling payments, reconciliations, and reports, with focus on accuracy and timely processing in a campus environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; four years of fiscal records keeping/banking or accounting experience, or an Associate degree with two years related experience.
• Knowledge of financial record keeping, coding, balancing and reconciling accounting records.
• Ability to audit invoices, process payments, and maintain vendor and student account records.

Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable and maintain compliance with regulations and district policies.
• Audit documents for proper account coding and authorization; verify shipments before payments.
• Prepare tuition billing for third party contracts; reconcile student accounts and payments.
• Oversee district credit cards, collect receipts, and post payments to records.
• Prepare and mail accounts receivable payments; generate reports on contractor payments.
• Verify nightly reports from student software; handle dishonored payments and stop payments as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
