Job summary

College of the Desert invites applications for a part-time Accounting Instructor. The adjunct instructor will participate in planning, implementing, and evaluating courses that promote student success and align with the district's mission.

Responsibilities include delivering lectures/labs, developing syllabi, assessing student progress, upholding district policies, and guiding students to tutoring and support services. Multiple sites and varied scheduling may apply.

Qualifications

• Master's in accountancy or MBA with accounting concentration.
• Or Bachelor's in business with accounting emphasis and a Master's in business, business administration, economics, taxation, finance or the equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Meet classes/lab on day and times assigned.
• Develop and implement instruction for each class/lab period which is consistent with the official course outline.
• Develop and distribute the first week of class, a written syllabus for each course to communicate to students course objectives, grading criteria, and classroom policies.
• Demonstrate respect for student rights as specified in District policy and applicable laws.
• Ensure course textbooks and instructional materials are made available to students in a timely manner.
• Refer students to tutoring and related student services when appropriate.
• Supervise student in off-campus activities when participation is part of the instructor's load.

Education

Master's in accountancy or MBA with accounting concentration

Bachelor's in business with accounting emphasis and Master's in business/economics/finance
