Job summary

Odessa College is seeking a part-time accounting instructor to develop and teach courses in various aspects of accounting. The role involves delivering material through in-person, online, and hybrid formats as needed and requested by the College.

The ideal candidate maintains current knowledge, provides clear syllabi and expectations, administers appropriate assessments, and supports daily department operations as required.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Business Accounting or Master’s Degree with 18 graduate hours in Business Accounting.
• Three years of relevant technical training, industry certifications, and/or experience in the discipline.

Responsibilities

• Maintains up-to-date knowledge in the teaching field.
• Demonstrates willingness and ability to teach various courses, times, locations, and delivery methods as needed.
• Uses appropriately challenging coursework to help students realize their full potential as learners.
• Provides students with written expectations, including syllabi, policies, and assignment instructions.
• Administers tests appropriate to the course content, including a comprehensive final exam.
• Affirms the worth and dignity of all persons and the right to learn.
• Maintains an appropriate learning climate in the classroom that upholds academic honesty.
• Prepares adequately for class and arrives promptly for meetings and activities.
• Delivers material in a clear and understandable manner.
• Addresses student concerns through office hours, electronic communication, and other means.
• Effectively handles routine department procedures delegated by the department chair.
