Job summary

Sioux Falls YMCA is seeking an Accounting Assistant to support the CFO/HR Director with bookkeeping tasks, payroll recording, accounts payable, and reconciliations. The role offers part-time hours, with summer peak workload and partial remote work, within a mission-driven team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with two years of post-secondary education in bookkeeping or two years bookkeeping experience.
• Proficiency with Excel and QuickBooks; working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe.
• High integrity, sound judgment and effective communication.
• Willingness to learn, teamwork mindset and service to the community.

Responsibilities

• Entering invoices, coding, and preparing accounts payable for approval; reconciling vendor statements.
• Preparing reconciliations for bank, investment, and other balance sheet accounts.
• Reviewing the reconciliations performed by others.
• Performing month end journal entries such as depreciation, revenue recognition, and expense allocations.
• Processing credit card expenditure receipts, coding and reconciling statements.
• Organizing documents for proper retention, including scanning and categorizing legacy hard copies.
• Providing support for data requests related to budgeting, forecasting, tax reporting, and the annual external audit.
• Other tasks as assigned by CFO/HR Director.
