Job summary

Allied Universal, the North America’s leading security and facility services company, is seeking a Security Officer – Part Time Enhanced in Sterling, VA. This role provides reliable hours at an assigned site with opportunities to earn more by taking additional shifts.

The position offers a fixed anchor shift with six-month commitment and a paid screen to expand experience across multiple sites, plus potential pathways toward full-time schedules and career growth.

Qualifications

• CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Possession of a guard card or license is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age; 21+ for armed roles; HS diploma or equivalent.
• Background investigation will be conducted; subject to drug screening.
• Licensing requirements may apply depending on state/local laws.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to tenants, visitors, contractors, and staff by carrying out site‑specific access‑control procedures, policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Monitor access points, verify credentials and visitor authorization, issue temporary access badges, and maintain accurate entry and exit records in accordance with site procedures.
• Respond to access‑control alarms, unauthorized‑entry attempts, incidents, and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner; notify appropriate site contacts and/or emergency responders as directed.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of building access points, common areas, parking areas, and perimeter locations to help identify irregular conditions and support compliance with property procedures.
• Document incidents, observations, and access‑control activities in clear, timely reports and communicate relevant information to Allied Universal supervision and site management.
