Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a Part Time Security Officer in Norfolk, VA. You’ll protect clients across industries, maintain access control, and provide top-notch customer service on a flexible schedule. This role includes using the Claim a Shift platform to view and take shifts at a marine terminal location.

Responsibilities include verifying credentials, patrolling, and ensuring secure entry points while upholding Allied Universal’s standards of integrity and care.

Qualifications

• Possess a Transportation Security Administration-issued Transportation Worker Identification Credential.
• Experience with access control and badge systems is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Background check required by federal, state, and local laws.
• Drug screen required where permitted by law.
• Licensing may be required depending on state/local laws.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to clients, visitors, drivers, and contractors by carrying out site-specific access control procedures, policies, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
• Monitor entry and exit points, verify credentials and authorization, and maintain visitor, contractor, and vehicle access records.
• Control access to restricted terminal areas in accordance with established procedures and report unauthorized access attempts or unusual activity to appropriate personnel.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following site-specific protocols.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of access points, docks, parking areas, and the surrounding perimeter; working environments and conditions may vary by location.
