College of DuPage seeks an Academic Assistant I to support students in the Writing, Reading, and Speech Assistance Area. The role includes in-class orientations, tutoring in writing, reading, and public speaking, and maintaining current knowledge across disciplines.

The position involves assisting students, collaborating with staff, and developing training materials, with hours aligned to academic terms and some evenings or weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree required, including English 1102 and Speech 1100 with a grade of B or higher and a GPA of 3.3.
• Experience teaching or providing academic assistance in a related discipline preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including proficiency in spoken English required.

Responsibilities

• Provide writing, reading, and public speaking assistance to students in all academic disciplines taught at the College of DuPage, in person or online.
• Provide in-class orientations on WRSA services.
• Maintain current and relevant knowledge in subject areas and general study skills.
• Serve as a resource to peer academic assistants and other academic assistants.
• Develop and participate in training on related topics. Develop and compile resource materials.
