Job summary

Spoon River College is seeking a Part-Time Adjunct Instructor for the Havana Campus (Havana, IL) to support Adult Education and GED Prep. The role focuses on teaching ABE/ASE, developing curricula, and participating in co-curricular activities on Tuesdays and Thursdays mornings.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field, has teaching experience, and can use technology in the classroom.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field required.
• Experience with disadvantaged individuals preferred. Demonstrated ability to use technology in teaching is required.
• Familiarity with basic online academic technology, such as Canvas, is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans and teaches courses in assigned course.
• Prepares syllabi, instruction materials, coordinates lectures, tests, and evaluates.
• Maintains highest possible standards of classroom instruction.
• Keeps abreast of new information and developments in field of instruction through regular professional development.
• Actively participates in institutional meetings.
• Administers pre- and post-tests (CASAS) according to the assessment guidelines.
• Assists with the development of curriculum.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
