Job summary

Terrapin House, Inc. is seeking a Part-Time Behavioral Support Professional to assist an engaged young adult with autism at home and in the community. You will apply ABA and Positive Behavior Supports to promote communication, independence, and daily living skills, while collaborating with an experienced team.

You’ll work weekend shifts on flexible 6-hour blocks, with ongoing training and support. We value dependable, engaged individuals who enjoy teaching skills and building meaningful

Qualifications

• Experience with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and/or Positive Behavior Supports.
• Experience supporting individuals with autism or intellectual/developmental disabilities.
• Ability to implement a behavior support plan and respond calmly to challenging behavior.
• Patient, energetic, and able to build a positive relationship with the person you support.
• Enjoys teaching skills rather than simply "helping".
• Reliable and able to work independently while also being a strong team member.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Implementing Positive Behavior Support and ABA strategies
• Following an individualized behavior support plan with consistency and integrity
• Teaching and reinforcing communication, social, and daily living skills
• Supporting skill acquisition and independence
• Participating in community outings, recreation, and meaningful activities
• Helping with personal care and Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) when needed
• Responding calmly and appropriately to behavioral challenges
• Collecting information and communicating observations with the team
• Working alongside an experienced team of 11 professionals to provide consistent support
