Job summary

Green Chimneys in Brewster, NY seeks a dedicated 1:1 aide for a Special Education School. The role focuses on providing a structured learning environment, tutoring, and supporting teachers with individualized plans for a student needing extra attention.

The position is part-time, 35 hours a week, and benefit eligible. Salary ranges from $16.00/hour to $18.31/hour DOE, with paid time off and holiday provisions.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a High School Diploma is required.
• Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Must have experience with impulsive, aggressive students.
• Ability to respond with great patience and understanding.

Responsibilities

• Provide a structured learning experience and atmosphere.
• Tutoring and arranging subjects, materials and schedules with classroom teachers for the assigned child.
• Assist classroom teachers with special projects and lessons for the child as needed.
• Assist in securing classroom supplies.
• Write anecdotal, incident, tutoring and other reports as necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned with teachers and School Principal/Assistant Principal.
