Job summary

Abilities First, Inc. in Middletown, NY is seeking a patient, energetic 1:1 Teacher Aide to support our education program for children of varying abilities. You will assist the teacher with classroom activities, attend therapy sessions, and promote independence in daily tasks.

Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm (32.5 hours/week, 48 weeks/year) with a starting pay range of $17.08–$19.08 per hour. Requirements include a High School Diploma (or equivalent) and experience in early childhood or

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience in early childhood and special education is preferred.
• Verbal and written communication skills in English are necessary.

Responsibilities

• Follow the classroom schedule to ensure students' goals are met.
• Assist the classroom teacher with individual and group activities.
• Keep student workstations and areas organized.
• Attend and participate in staff meetings and job skills training.
• Assist in therapy sessions to support classroom carryover.
• Support mobility and independence during routes to buses and in daily activities.
• Participate in specials (PE, art, music) with students.
• Support dressing, meals, and adaptive equipment use as needed.
