Job summary

Westfield Public Schools at Munger Hill Elementary School in Westfield, MA, seeks a 1:1 Preschool Special Education Paraprofessional for halftime. Starting August 31, 2026, this position supports teachers by assisting with individual students and small groups to meet program goals. Required: an Associates degree or higher or 48 credits, and ParaPro/Work Keys or equivalent.

May require lifting up to 50 lbs and diapering or toileting for some students. Salary commensurate with contract.

Qualifications

Associates degree or higher or 48 college credits or completion of ParaPro/Work Keys assessment.
Demonstrated interest in children and education.
Emotional maturity and stability for the role.

Responsibilities

Assist assigned student(s) with physical tasks such as dressing, moving between rooms, toileting, feeding, and other needs.
Work with individuals or small groups to reinforce learning of material or skills.
Assist teacher in developing strategies based on individual student needs and abilities.
Establish supportive relationship with students while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
Supervise students during drills, assemblies, play periods, field trips.
Assist with playground, lavatories, cafeteria, and bus loading supervision.
Assist with lunch, snack, and cleanup routines.
Participate in in-service training programs.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
