Job summary

State of South Carolina is seeking a professional Parole Examiner to perform probation and parole duties on-site. You will analyze inmate records and provide recommendations to the Board, supporting pre-release planning and ensuring adherence to agency standards.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree with 15+ semester hours in social/behavioral sciences and relevant parole experience. Strong coordination with agencies and communities is essential.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree with at least 15 semester hours in social or behavioral science courses and experience in probation and parole work.
• Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, social work, psychology, sociology, education, counseling, or related field with at least 15 credit hours in the listed disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Perform professional level probation and parole functions, including Parole Examiner duties.
• Analyze records of inmates/applicants eligible for parole or other discretionary release programs.
• Make recommendations to the Board and assist with pre-release preparations.
• Compile investigations and case summaries accurately and concisely per policy.
• Initiate and maintain contact with agency and community contacts to meet quality standards.
• Use agency computer systems to adjust parole and pardon case summary packets.
