Job summary

City of Lenexa in Lenexa, KS seeks an entry-level Parks Turf Technician I to assist with turf and field maintenance, operate mowing and irrigation equipment, and support seasonal staff. The role develops foundational turf skills under supervision and may involve after-hours work and event support.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED, and a valid driver’s license with training completion in IS-100 and IS-700 within three months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Must complete IS-100 and IS-700 training within three months.
• Desirable: 1–2 years grounds maintenance experience; Class B CDL with airbrakes; Kansas Pesticide Applicator license 3B.

Responsibilities

• Operate mowers, trimmers, edgers, blowers and other turf equipment.
• Assist with mowing, aeration, overseeding, fertilization and weed control.
• Support irrigation checks and basic repairs.
• Apply fertilizers/pesticides under supervision per safety rules.
• Update work orders and maintenance logs daily.
• Assist with trash removal from parks and fields.
• Assist with events setup and cleanup; seasonal staff coordination.
