Job summary

The City of Concord is seeking a Recreation Program Coordinator to oversee the development, implementation, and assessment of recreation and leisure programs across city centers, parks, or other sites.

This role coordinates transportation, facilities, dates, fees, registrations, payroll for contract staff, and marketing efforts, while supervising contract employees, volunteers, and seasonal workers to ensure safety and policy compliance.

• Athletic programming responsibilities include youth sports, adult sports, referees, coaches, volunteers, uniforms, and/or sponsors for a variety of events, trips, classes, races, and/or league sports teams.
• Supervises contract employees, volunteers, and seasonal staff by prioritizing and assigning work, providing input on performance, ensuring staff are trained and follow policies and procedures, maintaining a healthy and safe working environment.
• Assists Parks & Recreation department with researching and developing new programs and activities.
• Coordinates payroll for contract employees by collecting time sheets, completing necessary forms, and submitting documents on time.
• Assists with marketing of programs and activities.
• Performs other similar duties as required

Job Specifications and Qualifications:

Licensing and Certifications:

• Valid North Carolina Driver’s License;
• Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid Failure to obtain CPR and First Aid certification within 12 months from hire date may result in termination;
• Ability to obtain Certified Pool Operator Certification (CPO). Failure to obtain CPO certification within 12 months from hire date may result in termination.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

• Position requires: standing, fine dexterity, walking, lifting, carrying, sitting, reaching, handling, kneeling, pushing/pulling, climbing, vision, foot controls, balancing, bending, crouching, hearing, twisting, and talking.
• Medium Work: Exerting 20 - 50 pounds occasionally, 10-25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly.
• Incumbent may be subjected to extreme temperature, wetness and/or humidity, and respiratory hazards, and physical hazards.
